Marquis Mills opens the Converse Rubber Company in Malden, Massachusetts. The company's earliest products were rubber galoshes. Ten of them were produced on April 30, 1909, marking the very first Converse footwear ever made.

Meet the All Star
Basketball coaches ask for the Non-Skid in dark canvas to help hide signs of wear. Converse releases the Non-Skid in brown canvas and names it, The All Star.

1934
Signed by Chuck
Chuck Taylor, who joined Converse in 1922 as a traveling salesman and player-coach for the company's basketball team, has his signature added to the All Star. It becomes the original signature basketball shoe, and the Chuck Taylor All Star name is born.

1957
Introducing the Low Top
Converse launches the low top version of the All Star. The style takes off in California, quickly becoming a favorite among beachgoers.

2003
Swooshed
Nike, Inc. acquires Converse, opening a new chapter of investment, performance innovation, and global growth. That same year, Converse introduces the Icon Performance System and launches the Wade, its highest-profile basketball sponsorship of the decade.

2013
Throwback, Look Forward
Converse launches the Chuck 70, reviving the 1970s Chuck Taylor All Star design with premium materials and extraordinary attention to detail. It's become one of the brand's most enduring modern classics and remains a bestseller today.

2017+
Tyler Team-Up
Converse and Tyler, The Creator introduce the GOLF le FLEUR* signature, the start of a long-term creative partnership. By 2019, the duo had released 19 footwear iterations together, including the GOLF le FLEUR* Gianno, and in 2022 they marked the collaboration's fifth anniversary with GOLF WANG By You, the first custom collection to let fans design their own pair.
